The big impediment to the implementation of an American equivalent of the European welfare states is and always has been the white supremacists saying, "Well we can't be helping those people."

It's depressing that a majority of the country listens to them.

Derp

Yeah, son. Racism is way worse in Denmark than South Carolina.

Friendly reminder that South Carolina fired and indicted a racist cop.

Friendly reminder that anti-Semitism is on the rise in Denmark:

Derp yourself.

Not to mention, you can't refute an actual academic study with newspaper articles and blog posts. I'm honestly quite surprised and a little depressed that this needs to be said.

What do you suggest I use, then?

...Take a wild fucking guess, genius.

You want studies?  I'll give you studies.

Racism is far worse in Europe than in America.  Your argument doesn't hold water.

Not for long, thankfully.

The birthrate among non-racist communities is much higher than that of the indigenous racists, who are predicted to be a minority by 2050 at the latest.

Interesting.  Do you have any sources?

Thank goodness for that. If it means people like The Contrarian go extinct, I'm all for it.

Also, I just love the gestaltation here of everything the Republican party has been leading up to;

dehumanizing people in lower economic brackets, enthusiastically supporting racist killer cops...

...Its all coming together, and making it clear the Republicans only care about the Conrad Hiltons of the world. And the more clear that is, the less and less support they'll get.

You know, I can fully believe that they didn't mean to compare people to animals. And it doesn't actually matter because the statement is still quite bad even without that bit. They are still going for the good old "poor people are leeches that feed off on hard working people and they aren't even trying to improve themselves" which has been proven false plenty of times. The few people who try to live off of welfare (with or without cheating) are nothing compared to those who honestly need the help and are trying to get better.

I suppose next they are going to claim that wellfare in USA lets people live comfortably, rather than keeping the poor on the edge of starvation...
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

I hope Europe isn't sliding backwards as a whole. I think some fringe groups are just more numerous & prominent but most Europeans still think the Far-Right is full of scat.

Oh, they already do that. Ever seen a republican bitch about a poor person having a phone, or a fridge, or (gasp, shock, horror) a television?! What's next? Those bootstrapless degenerates are going to want to be treated like people!!
