As far as I've been able to tell, once they get IN the room, it's curtains for ya.
That's what I thought too, but I read something that mentioned that two of them were able to get in the room and sabotage the door and lights buttons, so I'm not really sure.
Well, if you really want to know...
Playing dead can buy you some precious time.
The rabbit and the chick can sabotage the door they're outside of if you don't catch them in time, they're mostly just there to spread your cheeks for Foxy/Freddy. They are also the ones that cause the camera to black out every now and then.
If you can confirm that one is in the room and it is 5am, just keep the camera up and try to wait it out.
If the power runs out, simply stop moving and don't scan the doors. As odd as it might sound, playing dead really does work a bit.
To keep Foxy at bay the best, keep checking the cameras, but do not actually look at Pirate Cove unless you have to. At night 5 and 6, checking Pirate Cove actually automatically wakes him up. If for some reason you feel the need to see and you find he is indeed active, keep the camera glued on him and just lock the right door before checking the camera. You will lock Foxy in place this way.
Freddy doesn't appear in the door way, if you see him in the camera and then he disappears, immediately seal the door.
You can somewhat conquer the game by simply checking the doors and the first camera. If you're fast enough with it, you can actually lock Freddy in the openning room. Just make sure you do very quick sweeps to keep the others at bay. Otherwise, just keep the camera on the right door. If you hear running, then seal the left one (Foxy is coming, but is actually really slow if you don't view the hallway he runs down) and continue as you were.
The game is now ruined, you're welcome.
Edited to add more to the spoilered part.
The animatronics are possessed/haunted, this was actually confirmed by the creator.
Still, the spirits know that they were murdered (and the murderer was likely a security guard who disguised himself with the costume - and they were murdered by being shoved into animatronic suits - which is why they're going after you and trying to do the same to you) and so they'd know they were dead. Not to mention it's been awhile since the incident, so... why are they eating!? Do they just get bored? Or what? Do they even remember that they were children once? Maybe they think they actually ARE Freddy Fazbear and the others?
I've always wondered: why in indie survival horror games does the protagonist never think of getting a weapon? He can carry a dozen other things so why not pick up a crowbar of something.
I once played a game where you don't pick up a fricken P90 on some dudes corpse.
In the context of this game, the player may as well just quit their job if they're going to use a weapon, considering that
you get fired for "tampering with the animatronics" if you so much as change the mascots' AI settings.
Watched Markiplier and Yamimash play it. I think it does improve over the original.
Though, if it's a prequel, why do the "New" animatronics look more polished than the originals, and they talk about how they have the old machines in the back for parts?
I may have misunderstood some things, though.
Because the new ones are blamed for the whole mess (not without merit) and are decommissioned, but the company hangs onto the old ones and repairs them.

Ahhh... okay. That makes sense. Thanks. :) Though the idea of animatronics as what is used in FNAF2 seems very unrealistic for 1987
.
At any rate, the Occams Razor part of me just chalks it up to, "it's just a show game, you should really just relax".
Oh, while I'm at it... Why does "New" Chica have no beak when she's directly visible by you, but she does in the camera views?
EDIT: My bad, she doesn't have a beak in the camera views either, except for when she's lined up with the others at the beginning.

And last night I had a nightmare about Mangle.
I was a kid again in Chuck E. Cheese's, and I was wandering off trying to find the bathroom. I entered a room that was only used for birthdays, and heard something. I look around for it, but cannot find it. I eventually look up in exasperation, and see Mangle clinging to the ceiling, both the exoskeleton head and the robot head looking down at me.
