Title: Europe was the birthplace of mankind, not Africa, scientists find
Post by: Radiation on May 28, 2017, 10:29:36 pm
This is a new evolutionary theory that may change the Out of Africa Theory. Scientists have found a new fossil of what they think is a newly discovered hominin. They found these fossils in Greece and Bulgaria.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017/05/22/europe-birthplace-mankind-not-africa-scientists-find/ (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017/05/22/europe-birthplace-mankind-not-africa-scientists-find/)

Currently, most experts believe that our human lineage split from apes around seven million years ago in central Africa, where hominids remained for the next five million years before venturing further afield.

But two fossils of an ape-like creature which had human-like teeth have been found in Bulgaria and Greece, dating to 7.2 million years ago.

The discovery of the creature, named Graecopithecus freybergi, and nicknameded ‘El Graeco' by scientists, proves our ancestors were already starting to evolve in Europe 200,000 years before the earliest African hominid.

An international team of researchers say the findings entirely change the beginning of human history and place the last common ancestor of both chimpanzees and humans - the so-called Missing Link - in the Mediterranean region.
"To some extent this is a newly discovered missing link"Professor Nikolai Spassov, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

I think this is fascinating because this may be the oldest fossil of a hominin ever found and the fact that it was found in Europe is making scientists question the current theory that we emerged from Africa. I just wonder what other developments might actually come from this.

Question: Do you use the echos symbol around the names and pronouns of Jewish people? Because I saw this article and similarly titled threads on several anti-Semitic sites, and I'm curious.

Agreeing with Queen on this one - it seems this has been particularly circulated around on anti-semitic and far right sites.

Even if these fossils were truly found there, neither the Greeks nor the Bulgarians are exactly what the far right would find to be their "Aryan Ancestors". Lest we forget, Bulgarians are a Slavic Racial Group (Nazis like the ones on those anti-semitic sites HATE the Slavs), and the Greeks became horny bisexuals and a divided people where no one city state for most of their history dominated the country.

I'm not sure if those new fossils actually change much.

I mean, the "monkey-things to humans" evolution wasn't a single step transformation with just one "missing link" because evolution is more gradual. So they found fossils which presumably belong to our ancestors from Europe, but since the fossils of another ancestor to us in Africa are younger that means that those creatures or their descendants then moved to African continent and evolution continued there and eventually lead to humans or am I completely misunderstanding this?

Well, that among other things has my interest. The first thing that raised a red flag was the manner that the findings were stated. Typically, scientists phrase findings in a restrictive manner (i.e. assuming a binary, instead of saying "we find that X is 1" they would say "we find that X is not 0"). That piqued my interest into a bit of research, where several anti-Semitic websites came to the forefront. Several of the sites used the echos, and considering Radiation's recent political shift, racially tinged statements in the Donald Trump thread, and her newfound fondness for the alt-right, I wanted to ask a question to this effect. I felt that limiting it to the echos was also a good tactic because it is specific, whereas "are you anti-Semitic" is more abstract.

Also, I PM'd my question to Radiation. Not to beat a dead-horse, but due to her lack of presence, I felt it was the best way to ensure that I get an answer when she did show up.

I think I should point out that I stumbled upon the old FQA/FSTDT thread on Kiwi Farms a couple months ago. And guess who was there whining about us being SJWs and supposedly being dog piled because she "made the mistake" of saying she voted for Trump.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain that she's long gone in more ways than one.

Well, that's not nice.

ETA: I will say that Kiwi Farms was NOT one of the anti-Semitic sites I referenced. Several others stood out far more.

You mean you don't want a full out flame war with another board?

Me either for that fact, too much.... drama.

Personally, I'm not sure whether to be relieved or extremely disappointed that the only mention I got in that thread is that I'm one of less nutty people around here. Obviously, I need to up my dick joke game. I've been slacking off too much lately.

Seriously!?! Not even once. Do they know you're Australian? That alone is lulz-worthy. It would be less lulz-worthy if your Prime Minister could do a decent impression (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5am6Yk2VOIU), but your lot just can't get anything right.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain that she's long gone in more ways than one.

Wait back when that happened she admitted that voting for Trump had been a mistake.

Ok, so I had a few days to look over what I said and did and I know this is not the thread for it but I actually did do some reading on Trump and... most of you are right and quite frankly I wouldn't have voted for him if it wasn't due to populism, which is what it was. But the thing is, it's done and now we have to deal with this guy for the next 4 years and he'll probably be a 1 term president. I really don't have any more to say really, so sorry?

Was she whining before or after she admitted we were right?

Oh, sorry. When checking out when Radiation made her post I made a quick google search to find the thread and ended up in the  thread about the main site (https://kiwifarms.is/threads/fundies-say-the-darndest-things-fstdt-com.24091/page-3) instead of the thread about the forum. Radiation's post in the forum thread is from April immediately after people piled on her here. Since the last post by a different person in the main site thread is so similar to her last post in the forum thread I didn't realize my mistake until now.

I noticed Timetoturn was posting in there and admit that the stupid bullshit he was posting on the main site was trolling.  In the unlikely event that he ever reads this, I just want to say to that being ''Triggered'' (meaning laughing at you and telling you to fuck off) is the correct reaction to someone saying they support having death squads kill people for minor drug offenses.

If you don`t like the direction FSTDT went in, fine, but you don`t need to be a dick.

Ugh, clicking on the links only reminds me of just how fucking childish the people on Kiwi Farms are. Casual use of terms like "sperg" (and pretty much anyone who acts in a way they don't agree with is a "sperg"), "tranny" and "chimp out" plus some of the shit they've dug up shows 1) more obsession than they accuse us of having with Paragon and 2) that ANYTHING is enough to make them think someone is a "lolcow."

And seeing as Radiation is still posting there still, I think my statement about her being long gone in more ways than one stands.

For one, why did you continue to post on Kiwifarms well after your post establishing your contrition? For two, why show up now of all times, once we've just gotten done looking into your activities? Right. Yeah, you're talking out of your ass there. We respect different opinions. You have been a part of this community long enough to know that. However, you also should damn well know that no one's opinion is safe from criticism. You sitting there complaining that we don't accept differences in opinion reeks of the kinds of people who complain about "violations" of their free speech because they can't get away with spouting hateful nonsense without criticism.

Furthermore, I will also call you out for your association with the hateful pieces of shit that frequent Kiwi Farms. In the very thread we're discussing, we have casual uses of "tranny," an obviously transphobic slur, "chimp out," an extremely racist term and "sperg," an ableist slur that refers to Asperger's. Not to mention that Kiwi Farms exists to mock people for no reason other than not conforming to whatever they think is correct behavior. And the one thing I won't abide by is laughing at people behind their backs because they're not "normal."

EDIT: Also, care to explain your contributions to that thread where you complain about us "dogpiling" you and about us being "SJWs?" Because that was a sure fire way to kill the respect I once had for you.

As far as I know or care to dig (because, unlike the people on Kiwi Farms, I don't find it fun or funny to go through every detail of a person's Internet activity for no good reason), she went there, complained about being "dogpiled" over admitting that she voted for Trump and us being SJWs and otherwise posted elsewhere on the site.

The ONE good thing I'll acknowledge as coming from the Farms is that they wound up stumbling on to a horrible pedophile named Nick Bate, and ultimately apparently resulted in him being busted for trying to coerce sex from his sister.

I'm naturally speaking here for myself, not for all the forum members. For me, what raised my eyebrows wasn't so much you voting for Trump but your defense for doing so. You tried to deflect from his racism by claiming that it's just mainstream media distortion and BLM is the real racist movement. It shows you have gone pretty deep in the alt-right rabbit hole and have bought into far-right racist rhetoric even if you don't realize or admit it. You probably think I'm just throwing around the R-word indiscriminately but - believe me - that is what you are actually doing and why I tried to confront it in as respectful manner as I could. It's not you having a different opinion that I am objecting to, it's the distorted and harmful world view that has lead you into that opinion.

Well, everyone's a little bit racist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXnM1uHhsOI).

First of all why should I have to justify the things I do. I came in here to check up on things and got Queen's message so I answered that. As far as what I have said before.. Yes I have said that I do regret voting for Trump and I still do, at least partially. I have every right to my opinions bit it seems like this forum doesn't seem to accept differences in opinions. Instead of being respectful of contrary opinions and viewpoints you all go on an attack against that person. I am never going to be redeemable in your eyes.

I just assume everyone is racist. Much easier that way.
