KA-ZING!
In fact, homophobia, itself is un-African. Before the invaders, colonials & missionaries came along, homosexuality wasn't an issue. They saw homosexuality the same way as pre-colonial Native Americans.
Please don't fall into the 'tribal societies were more accepting of gays' thing. SOME tribes were. Others were just as harsh as the colonialists (the Nuer people, for example). Still others use oral sex between men as an initiation rite to purge men of the corrupting feminine influence of their mothers (which also happens in a few Pacific Islander tribes). Just like everyone else, different tribes have different customs.
You have a point. I shouldn't be ignorant & treat them like a monolith.
Whenever it's Africa, The Americas, Australia or wherever...different tribes are the equivalent of different nations, each with their own customs, mores, mythology, arts, cultures, etc. To say that the Ashanti & Khoisan are the same or that the Iroquois & Hopi are the same would be as silly as saying the English & Greeks are the same.
That said, one can still blame outside influences for the more LGBT-friendly tribes turning into raging homophobes.
I realize you don't need Abrahamic religion/morals to be homophobic. Homophobia is basically an extension of misogyny. The Romans & Greeks were polytheists but they were sexist as hell! Same goes for the Far-Eastern countries.
FAUX NOISE! It's network motto,
Fear & Bombast! That's a very effective use of a single label. With that, the rest of the allegory falls into place on its own.
I agree, BEAUTIFUL!
