The article linked above describes a new medical breakthrough in artificial hearts: one that can keep a person's blood circulating without the familiar thump-thump.

I tend to agree with one of the replies to this article which says, a recipient of one of these hearts would almost certainly be issued a medical alert bracelet or other similar thing to indicate that the lack of pulse is normal for him/her.  If not, there could very well be additional heart stoppages happening--to EMTs who attend to him/her. :P
