Yes the UN did indeed apologize for making a dogs breakfast of it.

Even the people on the old Gate's hate list think it's stupid.

Calm down UP, can't see this is going to be the harbinger of the internetz apocalypse after the authors got so much egg on their faces!

Okay, I'm calm.  But I still don't like their apology.  It's really disingenuous and full of ass-covering.

Yeah, the UN is made up of politicians, and just because they're politicians from different countries doesn't make them any different from other politicians. Corruption, stupid ideological arguments, etc. are just as common there as everywhere else.
