That second one is so deliciously subtle...

Too subtle for me.

I'm kind of lost.

The Leave it to Beaver one is rather nice. We'll probably see tax rates consistently going up for the highest percentage from now on anyways. We need to admit that supply side economics don't work and move on, instead of Republicans pretending it's sacred.

Must be a regional thing. Means absolutely nothing special to me. It'd only make sense if they were poor now and had to eat roadkill, but it's clear from that picture that's not the case. So it means zero things.
The material needs a defender more than the spiritual. If there is a higher power, it can defend itself from the material. Thus denotes 'higher power'.

Eating crow is another way of saying eating humble pie/eating your words.

Specifically, eating crow is humiliation after being proven wrong when you've been a very strong proponent/opponent of something.

It's mostly a US colloquialism but it has some roots in the Bible. Leviticus calls crow forbidden to eat.

Must be a Southern thing. Since I'm American and I've never heard of that crap.

...Why do you automatically assume it's a Southern thing? Just cause you've never heard of it that doesn't really mean anything. You're one person who may just never be around people who say it.

Also, I've heard it all over the place, including Hawaii.

And, googling it can show it isn't just one region like other phrases might be. Such as "The O.C." being common in Maryland but not in other places.

You said it was biblical, and the south is known for being into their bibles. Thus my assumption it's a southern thing. I mean, I know the Pop and Soda divergence tends to be east/west based.

But the full name is Soda-Pop, so nobody's wrong!

Speaking as a born and raised Oregonian (so, Northwest), I've heard 'eating crow' since I was young.  And it's soda, dammit.
There is light and darkness in the world, to be sure.  However, there's no harm to be had in walking in the shade or shadows.

I'm from the Northeast, and have also heard the term "eating crow" and it is indeed 'soda'.

Well, I don't know about this "eating crow", but I call that other stuff "sulfuric acid".

I've heard 'eating crow' and I've lived in California and currently live in Wisconsin.
