But that was just fags. This could actually affect me.

Any bets on someone with an (R) beside their name or a time slot on Fox actually saying this?

Well, overreaction can be just as inadequate a response as underreaction.

Well, that would require them to first acknowledge that HIV was even capable of existing in the United States during the wise leadership of Saint Ronald. Only after that, and several more steps, would they blame the gays.

Quite true, as evidenced by people advocating that Obama create an "Ebola czar." Seriously. It's sad that it's become to much to ask that the human race show a little rational thought.

I went to the March on Washington back in '87. Half a million LGBTQ's and allies filled the city that weekend. Twenty-odd thousand HIV deaths and a quarter of a million of us filled The Capitol Mall to capacity (the mile long narrow park between the Washington Monument and Congress building). Reagan, and Congress for that matter, still didn't do jack diddly shit for many months afterwards.

I'm not defending Reagan, at all. I'm saying Reagan being stupid in one direction does not excuse Obama being stupid in the opposite direction.

I was not actually responding to your post, as it stands on it's own merits in factual basis. I was expanding on the meme's point about 20K HIV deaths and etc. There was quite a lot of public outrage over the issue back then, but Reagan plus the conservative element of the (then partly moderate) GOP just stuck to their guns by stonewalling and even making light of a national tragedy. The resurgence and growth of the U.S. LGBTQ rights movement had it's roots in that particular controversy.

Maybe George Washington was right about political parties....

Is it even possible to have a political system without parties?

The party's name is the Democratic Party. It has been since 1830. Please spell correctly.

"The party must go wholly one way or wholly the other. It cannot face in both directions at the same time."

Quote from: Jordan Duram
It doesn't concern you, Sister, that kind of absolutist view of the universe? Right and wrong determined solely by a single all-knowing, all powerful being whose judgment cannot be questioned and in whose name the most horrendous acts can be sanctioned without appeal?

Being required by someone else’s religious beliefs to behave contrary to one’s sexual identity is degrading and disrespectful.

That, and a meritocracy.  That way, the only people with power are people who've actually, ya know, done something for society instead of just having known the right people and/or had a lot of money.
