Well, here's hoping the senate keeps him from fucking too much up, and the LNP implodes now that they no longer need to present a united front. Personally, I'm hoping Turnbull takes over the party in the near future. He's quite easily the best choice to hold things over until the next election rolls around.

Still, this is a rather crappy outcome. I for one was really looking forward to the National Broadband Network, especially now that Conroy is gone.

I'm moderately terrified, given the Libs are talking about cuts to welfare. I lose my disability pension, I'm fucked.

We need some kind of National Broadband Network here in Yankland too.  Though I think there's even less of a chance of us getting it than Abbott-Ruled Oz.

It's almost worth it to just have a "rogue" citizens effort to buy bulk salvage coaxial cable and sat receiver dish link hubs. DIY broadband would happen faster than waiting on the govt., at this pace. (for those unfamiliar, Oz does not have the gazillion miles of pre-existing coaxial cable installed on poles and underground like in the US, where cable TV has been established for over 40 years. It's all about DSL landline and wireless, there. Imagine if AT&T had zero competition from any cable broadband rival. Ewww).

Which corporation(s) are influencing this ongoing delay by the pols? Telstra? They sure do have a pricey bandwidth meter plan with their wireless networks.

The NBN had been started up, but budget blowouts and delays happened, and the Liberals have used this to their advantage. Take it into account that most people cannot see the need for updated infrastructure and faster internet, well...

The most depressing part of this is that it clearly demonstrates that where facts and the Liberals disagree, Australians go with the Liberals.

The other frustrating thing: a pile of idiots have invaded the Senate, the house of review. Glenn Lazarus, a former footballer, is clearly better than Adam Stone, who only has years of policy experience, a masters in international law, ect. The Senate is a rubber-stamp. Obviously, the media is a megaphone. We're fucked.

The party's name is the Democratic Party. It has been since 1830. Please spell correctly.

I'm going to assume that Aussie-Liberals are not liberals.

No, no they're not. They're our Republicans.

Kind of like our historical Republicans started out in the 19th century, in a re-naming for the Whigs, as the more progressive party, but over the decades crept around to the right, and right, and right, and then they were at the edge, and now they're hanging onto to the spinning disc of political relevancy by their crooked teeth. Unfortunate choice of party name way back then, "Liberal Party", for the Oz faction in question.

So... what term exactly is used to describe actual liberals in Australia?
