At least six people have died in Britain after being told they had been healed of HIV and could stop taking their medication, Sky News has discovered.
There is evidence evangelical churches in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow are claiming to cure HIV through God.
Sky sent three undercover reporters to the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), which is based in Southwark, south London.
All of them told the pastors they were HIV positive - all were told they could be healed.
Once a month, the church has a prayer line, where people from across Europe come to be cured of all kinds of illness.
Churches like these should be charged with negligent homicide
The Department of Health said it was very concerned: "Our advice is clear that faith and prayer are not a substitute for any form of treatment, especially for HIV treatment.".

On a similar note, I remember one of the youth pastors at the pentecostal church I used to go to telling a girl that she didn't need her anti-depressants - they were a crutch.
This same pastor was the one who told me that I'm using MY OCD and Tourrette's as a crutch.
I didn't like him.
For the record, I could post my opinion here, but it goes without saying. But I'll say it anyways.
FUCKING RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!

Hasn't this happened quite a few times before? At this same church even.

That makes it worse.

Sigh...
That's really all I've got. I've read about this sort of thing enough that it barely affects me anymore. :/

If faith really worked, then we wouldn't need medicine in the first place for these diseases and such.
-
Don't you know? Medicine is part of Satan's plot to trick people into having less faith in god. The fact that it's infinitely more effective than faith healing is purely coincidental. /fundie

It's tragic how some sick people can be so desperate that they're fooled by scams like this. :(

Reminds me of those nuts by brother brought home from his church. They told my mom that they had the ability to cure her of her epilepsy and started praying over her and laying their hands on her to expell the 'Demon of Epilepsy'. My mom and dad are both Roman Catholic and they were both shaking their heads at the stupidity.
But Mom hasn't had any seizures since then! Of course, she didn't stop taking her medication and hasn't had a seizure in three years now, but I'm sure the church people are screaming "SUCCESS" anyway...

Once my grandmother was walking around town with a "friend" who is a Christian Scientist. My grandmother has arthritis and always uses a cane to walk. Her cane broke, and the "friend" decided to leave her there because she thought it is a sign that God was healing her or something like that.
Also, there was a Christian Scientist man up the street who died of a bladder infection.

Is it ironic that I first read this title as containing the words "faith killers?"

At least they're doing their part to thin the herd.
Not that they'd ever believe it could be beneficial.

Jesus fuck are they stupid?
Ironbite-wait they are.

These faith healers should keep their techniques to themselves.
