Depends. If the fundies are right, he'll burn in hell. If others are right, he'll be a tormented soul for eternity. If the atheists are right, he doesn't exist. All of those are horrifying.

The Egyptians believed that, were a person found in inequity in life and upon being judged unworthy in the spirit world, their souls would be devoured by a half-crocodile, half-hippo creature.  In effect, they'd cease to exist too.

To be honest, the idea of ceasing scares me more than the idea of any fire and brimstone hell world.

I'm in a minority myself.  I wish to reincarnate, and have an afterlife between reincarnations, and I do learn towards it exisitng... but I accept that it's possible that there is just... nothing.

Regardless, once I'm actually dead, it won't matter either way.  Unless Fundamentalist Christianity is actually the truth, in which case, everyone's fucked.

That being said, coming to terms with the possibility didn't happen instantly.  I had a major freak out about it.  Especially since I've had such a shit life so far.

Kinda odd to plea guilty in order to avoid a potential death penalty only to off yourself not too long later.

Guess he either wanted to make sure he was the one to take his own life or figured he could stand being in prison and couldn't.

Yeah and given he was meant to be checked every half hour? As I said, suicide, I am mighty suspicious but wouldnt be pressing them to investigate.

I completely agree. In some ways, suicide was the easy way out.

I personally don't often buy into the retribution/make-them-suffer frame of mind. When someone commits a heinous crime such as his, I just want them to stop being alive. I feel air is a precious resource and should not be wasted on individuals such as this.

So, this news makes me smile.
