Man even if it's just a picture of him I want to punch his stupid face.

That's nothing to be ashamed of.  It just means you're human.

I'm pretty sure anyone with a solid grounding in ethics would say that is shameful; furthermore, "It just means you're human" is an appeal to the naturalistic fallacy.

The Christlike paragon who's all about ethics should be on the ball with this stuff.
Consumption is not a politically combative act — refraining from consumption even less so.

I would say that a solid grounding on ethics will tell you that wanting to punch someone isn't shameful, though actually punching them can be.

Yep. Emotions and desires aren't controllable and thus can't be unethical. Indulging them is another matter.

No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

In two minds about this one, while I agree with the sentiment the drawing is a bit rubbish.

There is also the biting irony of it - conservatives want to essentially overwrite the constitution with an old tradition they had no loyalty to before, and Scalia was a strict constitutional originalist...

So essentially they're in spirit disregarding the powers outlined in the constitution that Scalia, their dear martyr, held so dear in order to score political hit points on a departing President. Then again, Modern Republicans exploiting the memory of one of their own for political gain is not so unusual.

I also heard, oddly enough, that Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a friend of Scalia, and I really don't get the friendship thing there.

Lots of people have different ideologies/ world views and remain friends. Chifley the greatest Australian Labor Prime Minister was friends with Menzies (they used to swap detective novels). Even Fraser and Whitlam became friends in later life.

-snip-

Reminds me of Red Mage's wily portable hole escape. 8-bit Theater was a great webcomic.

Apparently, she advised him to tone down his dissents, suggesting that he'd be more effective in getting his views across if he weren't so bombastic.

Despite our disagreements on politics, I found Scalia's remarks on this bizarre golf case that (somehow) made its way to the Supreme Court to be completely hilarious and sassy.
