A buddy was having trouble in flight school when doctors suddenly declared him unfit to fly a plane. ...This when he was almost ready to graduate. ...And had paid a huge sum of money to the school long ago. If they had simply told that when he tried to apply to the school (since his condition was known already) it would not have been a problem. Anyway, now one doctor has given him the green light and another asked for more time to make the decision so it looks like he might get to be a pilot after all.

I joined the site italki a few days ago to meet partners for language learning, since I need speaking practice for Japanese. I unexpectedly had a few people ask me to help them with their English, so I decided I would. And I just had a surprisingly pleasant Skype call with a guy living in Saudi Arabia who's trying to improve his English. We went over a paragraph where he was having problems with pronunciation, and it was actually a lot of fun to help him.

Mostly I'm happy with myself for being able to have a call with a complete stranger and talk about in-depth topics to help him improve his speaking. I dunno, it's really satisfying.

Moving on up from a 15lb free weight to a 25-pounder.  Its a lot harder on the arms, but damn does it feel good.  I only wish they had something of similar weight for legs, as well.

Well, I arrived in California late yesterday afternoon, stayed in a hotel, and then have been spending the entire day since 10 AM moving stuff into my new apartment. It's a lot of hard work, but at least I have a place of my own now and not just a tiny room at my cousin's house in Arizona anymore.

Welcome to Cali, dude. Dude you're gonna like it here, dude. The weather is epic, the beaches are NOICE, and some days BART services are kinda passable I guess dude.

It'd be Metro services in my case, since I'm in the greater Los Angeles area.

Also, this means I've officially managed to drive all the way from one end of the country to the other over the last year.

Today, I learned that Hodor's actor is a DJ.  Not only that, but he's actually a really good DJ.  I totally wanna party with him even more, now.

He was (don't know if he still is) the house DJ for a well known gay bar in Belfast.  I've never been there (it's popular with many people not just the gay community but it's the sort of place everyone goes to at the end of a night out when I'm wanting to just go to bed) so I can't personally attest to his DJ skills.

Decided, last Tuesday, to get honey roasted peanut butter since my supplies were running low.  It was a very good choice, as my standard breakfast has been much improved; tastes better, and doesn't leave me dying of thirst like it normally does.  Might continue getting it, if this keeps up.  My only gripe is that there isn't a chunky variety, but eh, can't win 'em all.
