Every frackin' time I see people say or imply that he's lesser for being a dog/pet or some shit, I think "Have you seen Pound Puppies or Littlest Pet Shop?"  Seriously.  Having seen both of the aforementioned shows that aren't pony, I find the idea that "dog/pet = inferior" absolutely ridiculous.

They're diferent shows though. And on MLP, dogs/pets ARE inferior. Will that carry over to EqG? Don't know, but it's probably a better indicator than another, unrelated show.

That seems like a bizarre analogy.  I mean, Equestria also has very few humanoids.  I think the shows I mentioned are better analogies BECAUSE they have humans.

MLP depicts pets one way, other shows do it another way. Different shows, different rules. Since EqG is an MLP spinoff, it stands to reason that it will probably emulate MLP rules more closely than some other unconnected show.

Thing is, is Winona going to be in EqG? If so, she'll either have to be elevated to a speaking roll like Spike, or he'll have to be reduced to a non-speaking or at least subservient roll like her, or they'll end up with some dogs that can talk and some that can't. Not that they couldn't do that (Family guy does it), but IMHO, you end up with something that doesn't smell right any way you cut it.

Well, that's true.  I just imagine that they would a bit, I guess.  The only way to know for sure is to wait and see.  Until then, I refuse to pass judgment (or at least NEGATIVE judgment).

That's cool. I'm not saying anyone else shouldn't like it, just that I don't. Or rather, that what I've seen so far makes me pessimistic.

But like I said before, as long as the main show continues to be good, it's no hair off my back. :)
