So...a referee at a Brazilian football game was stoned and then decapitated after stabbing a player fatality...yeah that happened heres a quote from the BBC article about it
An angry mob stormed the field during the amateur game in the state of Maranhao and stoned Otavio da Silva to death before severing his head.
Police said the murder was in retaliation for Mr Silva stabbing player Josenir dos Santos.
The article itself http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-23215676
(Side not is it wrong that I kind of laughed at this due to the audacity of it)

Stoning and decapitating a person is somewhat extreme, but why the hell did a ref stab a player to begin with?
This whole story is just filled with crazy.
Of all the possible options for getting a player of the pitch getting into a fist fight and then stabbing the guy should not even be close to the list. What kind of ref carries around a knife to begin with?
-
And people call us Americans violent savages.

Futebol.
SERIOUS BUSINESS.

You get in trouble if guards catch you swearing at football games in Ohio. Something about it going against the family atmosphere. Nice to see the state on the right side of crazy for once.

That is completely insane in the opposite direction. Like, I'd wear my Arma-Goddamn-Motherfuckin-Geddon Marilyn Manson shirt or my We're Here To Fuck You Up Motley Crue shirt just to piss them off (something even my high school gives no fucks about).

I don't know where you live, but around here it's pretty normal to carry a pocket knife. While not the blade of choice I'd go in to a fight with (That'd be my AK bayonet), you could conceivable kill someone with one on the larger end.
I myself carry a Kershaw Crown (http://kershaw.kaiusaltd.com/knives/knife/crown) which has a 3 1/4 inch blade.

I carry a Swiss Army Knife in my jacket, myself, but still, why is a ref carrying a knife? It's the specific idea that he has one on the job as a ref, not why does he carry a knife.

Yeesh! Both the ref & the fans are weirdos! I can understand the fan's anger but GOOD GRAVY ON FRENCH FRIES!

Ah ja Fußball!

Only if you also put cheese curds on it.

You live in a hellhole otherwise known as....Ohio. That's not much of a shock.

I carry an olive fork. When the other guy starts laughing I run.

Thank you.
I've never seen anyone use their knives violently. I' only ever see them being used as tools to do all the things normally associated with a knife (cutting and poking things) and sometimes more unusual things. It's the same just about everywhere I've been.
I'm probably more unusual in that I have a rather sizable collection of knives. Over time they've found their way around the house from me leaving the on tables, forgetting, and then it getting put in the table's drawer, so now I'm usually within five feet of a knife. Most of them are smaller folders, but I do have a couple large bowie knives I bought recently at a garage sale that are just a little shy of short swords.
Here's a couple things worth reading about knives.
"Why every man should carry a knife." (http://www.artofmanliness.com/2008/04/01/every-man-should-carry-a-pocket-knife/) This is from the site Art of Manliness. I'd add that every woman should also have a pocket knife. Hell, that's one more reason for us guys to be jealous of those purses. We got fit it all in our pockets. If I had a purse it'd be like a small cutlery shop in there.
Uses for knives other than the obvious. (http://www.instructables.com/id/EDC-The-pocket-knife/?ALLSTEPS) I love tip number 7, the one about the key rings. After reading that a while back I've got a lot of use out of it. Being that I live on a car lot I deal with key rings fairly regularly, and car keys are even more of a pain to get on a ring that other keys because they're usually bigger.

See, the decapitation of the referee isn't the part that makes this story.
It's the part where they stuck his head on a stake in the middle of the field.

I think it's safe to say, everything, yes, everything is better with heads on stakes.

Good gravy! They suddenly switched to Aztec Rules O.o

I didn't see that in this article.

Oh, YES IT IS!
Unlike sawing people's heads off, which is gross & stuff (even if it's a homicidal ref).

I'll have to try that sometime.

YES! Especially if it's white gravy and it's fresh.
On topic, I heard about this on the radio the other day and I couldn't believe it.
