I think it was only a matter of time. The country is pretty conservative right now due to mainly conservative people calling the shots. The children of the Liberal hippies of the 60s are the ones in power now and children usually tend to grow up and rebel against what they grew up in thus changing the country conservative in the past twenty years. Now the opposite is going to happen the children of these conservative parents are probably going to grow up and be more progressive. You can see it happening already, people ages 18 to 35 are already voting drastically different from people ages 55 and up on social and economic issues.
