Just a self-explanatory thread.
My avatar was made in tektek.org's Gaia Dream Avatar maker.
She's supposed to represent a character from a story I'm writing.
-
Mine is from my superspecialawesome new ref sheet.
-
I've had this avatar for awhile now. I think it's from a creator that someone posted on the old forum, and I decided to stick with it.
-
The quill came from Open Clip Art. The parchment and background gradient were me in Inkscape.
-
Fuck if I know. I think it's lifted from LiveJournal from an L Word avatar community. But I'm hosting it on my photobucket.
It's awesome, no?
-
The current one if from a friend's LJ account. She has quite a few and doesn't mind me using them. Expect avatar shifting from time to time. I think I might use the OT3 one next.
-
Mine is from the flavor renders for one of the Mario Kart games.
Heart border added in Paint.Net
-
My current one is a Star Wars Propaganda Poster. I change both my avatar & sig every so often.
-
For those unfamiliar with the comics, mine is Rogue from the X-Men. Cropped it from a scene where she absorbs a bunch of different powers & proceeds to engage in a kick-ass battle. I don't plan on changing it any time soon -- I've been using it since mid-to-late 2010, so I've grown rather attached to it.
-
I made mine on southparkstudios.com
-
My avatar is Jenner, the big bad of the classic animated film Secret of NIMH.
-
It's me as I appear in a cameo in the excellent webcomic Charby the Vampirate (http://www.drunkduck.com/Charby_the_Vampirate/4841745/).
-
I'm doing a Den-O avatar series until I get my photobucket back.
Ironbite-which hopefully will be soon.
-
Fuck if I remember.
-
http://www.octodadgame.com/ (http://www.octodadgame.com/)
-
All of these avatar changes are oddly disconcerting. Stupid brain and its hatred of insignificant changes.
-
Mine Musashi Miyamoto from Vagabond.
-
My avatar? Oh, that's just Garrett, the main (player) character from the Thief series...quite possibly the single best series of stealth games ever to have been made.
-
Mine is fr- HOUSE OF THE DEAD, MUTHAFUCKA!
-
Right now mine is a picture a friend did.
But, I've been debating changing it.
-
Mine is a screencap of Jade Curtiss from Tales of the Abyss (just prior to one of the funniest events in the game).
-
Anonymous X, a character from a sidequest in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
-
I found mine via google, but I think the thread it was from on...ponychan or whatever no longer exists.
-
My avatar is just a picture of my feet that I took a few years ago. Sometimes I think about taking a new picture and using that.
-
The Mobius squadron emblem from Ace Combat 4 fed through the Obamicon site with a relevant caption for your role in the story of the game.
-
Mine is just the logo of my favourite band.
-
Mine is a photo I took of a book that was on the reading list for my "International Relations Theory" module.
-
Shizuku, a Hunter x Hunter character and one of my cartoon crushes.
-
Mine is from some fanart I found of Lucca from Chrono Trigger. I cropped it, resized it, and added the border. I do change my avatar fairly often (at least in comparison with most people here), but I don't have any clue what I'd replace it with so Lucca stays for now.
-
It's a close-up of the wire in a welder operating in spray transfer mode (a fancy way of saying that the wire melts before it actually touches the steel). In reality, the wire at the top is only about 1mm in diameter.
I came across it when I was looking up some technical information for work so I re-hosted it and have been using it ever since.

The story of finding the pic itself is boring. Google Image Search for "phoenix". The story is a bit cooler, if you're a nerd like me.
See, Eniliad comes from my first D&D character, Eniliad Dragonsbane. The last name makes sense in context but I won't bore you with the backstory. We were doing a hybrid Pathfinder with some homebrew options. We were doing the closest we could to an Epic campaign at this point, and I chose to multiclass (Ranger 20 / Druid 5 by completion). As it was Epic levels, I got some custom options for summoning, as well as a fast-track to high level spells for the class (in order to not make leveling up a waste). Some asshole necromancer with delusions of grandeur opened portals to shadow dimensions (basically Hell gates for the uninitiated). He couldn't control the Level 20+ summons and got his ass floored almost instantly, and before anyone knew it, half the kingdom had been overthrown.
Well, we Epic-level adventurers sure as hell weren't about to let that go down, so we tried to find ways to slow down or stop the minions of hell from taking over the world (yikes, don't let fundies read this post...) but ultimately failed. In fact, things failed so catastrophically that soon we had a Minas Tirith situation outside the capital of the last city not to fall to them, only without Aragorn, the dead army, or the Rohirrim. In a word, we were basically fucked. The party discovered a path to the sea that we could use to escape the continent and eventually safety. Only problem was, we'd have to abandon a citadel of about 10,000 innocent people to the slaughter.
So instead, we let them get onto the ship, and we decided to stall the invading army long enough to get the civilians out of bombardment range. As the last ship set sail, we turned to face the stampeding horde of demons, daemons, devils and evil shit as far as the eye could see. Eniliad, badass mofo that he is, used his Epic Summon to call a host of mounts for the party, including for himself a Phoenix (again, custom shit homebrewed in).
And so, Eniliad Dragonsbane died charging the very legions of darkness with a screeching phoenix, screaming battle cries the entire way until we were finally overwhelmed. And that, ladies and gents, is how you die with honor in D&D. 8)

...
I only hope that my sorcerer can die a fourth of a magnificent as death as your character did o_o
-
I assure you, for each character who went out in a blaze of glory or achieved immortality of some kind, I've lost 5 to hobgoblin raiding parties or some other bullshit. Results NOT typical, and that's why I keep the name/avatar combo :D
-
I made it using official Zelda art. I've got several dozen such avatars on my photobucket.
-
Everything about my avatar can be explain with this page. (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=006368)
-
It's an artist's rendition of gonorrhea, from a homophobic comic book by Dick Hafer.
-
...I misread it as "Dick Hater".
-
Everyone does.
-
I think he does hate dicks.

My avatar is artwork of the character Cyborg Noodle from the Gorillaz, though I do not know if it is an official piece or a fan created work. I intend to stick with this for a long time, though the only exception is every winter holiday season, when I change my avatar to my (Christopher) Walken in a Winter Wonderland gif.
-
My avatar is an Other, from the HBO series Game of Thrones.
-
I just google'd Harley Quinn. I never have put much thought into an avatar on any forum.
EDIT: The only thought I do put into avatars is that they aren't currently being used by someone else.
-
British TV critic and satirist Charlie Brooker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Brooker) did a travel article for the Guardian fairly recently, featuring this picture. There's just... something about it that just makes me crack up laughing. I think it's his expression or something.
-
My avatar is a photo I took (on film, in the olden days) of a dolmen called Carreg Coetan Arthur. I've used it on almost every message board I've ever used.
-
Mine is simply clipped from my Hairspray 2007 title card, drawn by an artist known as Nellufy. =3
Perhaps after I get my new look put together, I'll update it. ^_^

I sometimes read your posts in her accent.
-
From the manga Franken Fran. I cut the picture out of one of the manga scans.
-
Mine is called 'enso', it's the Zen circle. It represents several things: the circle of existence/life, the emptiness of all phenomena, and the illusion of what we call reality.
-
Posting again because of new avatar.
This is an interpretation of my main character made in this program: http://wyndbain.deviantart.com/art/Dragon-Maker-215799403
Some changes were made that, IMO, look better with the feral body type than with an anthro body type. (Such as the jaw fur)

Interesting toy.
Ironbite-wonder if I can make a Pernese dragon.

Give it a go :D

Mine is a photo of a pair galaxies in Canis Major that are just starting to collide (NGC 2207 and IC 2163). The gravitational pull on each other has skewed there edges to the point of making them look like eyes. I've just always had a fascination with this photo.
-
Interesting toy.
Ironbite-wonder if I can make a Pernese dragon.
Just don't forget the compound eyes. I always get pissed off when people forget that part.
-
I took it from some MLP fan work on DA, it's reference to a recent episode.
-

Was looking through the eye selection and didn't see an option.
Ironbite-wonder if it could be added.

If not, I suppose you could always just photoshop it in afterwards.

Say, Distind, your new avatar looks like something out of one of the Tropico games. :)
-
Avatar's of Hatsune Miku. Done by a close friend of mine. :3
-

That would be El Presidente alright.
My typical Avatar in game. It amuses me that I can make an industrialized island nation in half the time as a leftist author than as any industrialist build I try.
I think the build is, leftist author, velvet revolution, diplomatic, scholarly... and I'm forgetting the last bit.
Never under estimate the power of education bonuses.
My fiancee insists it resembles me, I think she's just on Juanito's side.

My avatar is a scene from a fanfic I wrote a couple years ago. Sadly, I have no idea who drew it. I wish I did, because I've always been rather flattered that my work was inspirational enough to create such a beautiful picture.

A fanfic for what?

A fanfic for what?
The two characters depicted are Dawn/Hikari (blue hair) and Zoey/Nozomi (red hair) from the 4th generation run of the Pokemon anime. The fic was a one-shot written for New Year's Eve.
-
My MSN name is Advent Snail. After seeing this in the IM Conversation Thread a few times, some people got the idea that it'd be funny if my avatar was an image of Sephiroth with a snail's face instead of his own. So Hades made it. And here we are now.
-
Not sure.
Ironbite-just that it looks like a Furmanism.
-
My current avatar is from a Star Wars comic entitled The Emperor's Court (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Emperor's_Court). It's whole play on the TV show "The People's Court" and in the comic Han is put on trial for shooting Greedo. Palpatine is the judge, Vader is the bailiff, C-3PO is the attorney for the plaintiff(who is Greedo's Mom)Funny stuff.
-
Keith Moon as Uncle Ernie from The Who's "Tommy". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFhO7EU08Tg Surely one of the more entertaining molesters out there.
-
Mine's a painting from the late fantasy artist Frank Frazetta.
-
I've been a huge Stephen Pastis fan for a long long time. So I Googled his comic strip hoping to find Rat or the Crocodiles. And that guy popped out. So I got this feeling that it would be irresponsible of me not to let everyone here at FSTDT see someone that creepy. I have no Earthly idea who it is or where he's from. (If anyone does know, please share with the class.) Not a great story, but there it is.
-
Baldrick is my favorite character from the Black Adder shows, and Pvt Baldrick was my favorite incarnation of him. I figured I'd just him for a little while, but somehow it didn't feel right when I changed over to the chaos reigns fox, so I went back.

I've always loved your avatar. It's the perfect balance between creepy and amusing.

MADMAN CASTS NECROMANCY!
A photo-edited Evangelion 001, done in Paint Dot Net.
-
A Sam & Max fansite. The avatar itself is taken from one of the comics.
-
Mine is a photograph I took with my phone at a sushi restaurant.
-
I found mine on a stock photos website.
-
made mine with an image creator.
-
It wasn't long ago I've mentioned the source in The Cutie Thread. (http://fqa.digibase.ca/index.php?topic=39.msg245859#msg245859)
-
Live footage from Sputnik 2.
-
I can't remember for sure. Some Buffy site somewhere/somewhen.
-
Found randomly on google
-
I found mine in Google image search and then modified it slightly. It's, as most probably know, the Karstark's sigil from Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire; which was my first "role" on the show.
-
My avatar is in-game poster art of Iosa the Invincible, a boss character from the indie game Iji. The top is her in her Annihilator exoskeleton armor, and the bottom is her actual body outside the armor. My sig is her attack animations out of her armor.
-
Used an icon that was cropped from a picture on Danbooru. Same place where I get all my icons.
-
Yet another edit of a EVA still.
-
Hybrid Reaver, from Starcraft 2.
-
Cropped from a refsheet I had done of my character (I will not call it a fursona, but... yeah). Funny thing, I didn't ask for the seductive expression, the artist just did that.. not that I'm complaining.
-
I was looking for something that was military themed and with cats on Google image search, and I found this image on icanhascheezburger.com.
-
Considering I've changed it for the month of October, the source is in my signature. Or here (http://karzahnii.deviantart.com/).
(This is the second time I've used this avatar.)

He's the main character of this manga I just finished titled "A History of Present Day Illusions."

He kinda reminds me of Naoto.
This is a good thing.
-
His name is Shinobu, he investigates illusions/the paranormal while simultaneously managing an antique store owned by his stoic father. Most of the coolest parts of his character aren't revealed until the end of the story though.

A totally racially-sensitive Cyberdemon.
-
Mine was an incredibly adorable jumping spider wearing a dewdrop as a hat. Sorry, anyone who suffers arachnophobia for the torment.
Now, Yotsuba, for the fourth (or fifth, I reused one avatar) time, this being the fourth variation of this character as my avatar.
-
Sachinteng on tumblr.
Ferguson post as you'd expect.

The 1990 (and 1991) Japanese Moomins cartoon. Having also watched the same story in the 1980 Polish stop-motion cartoon, The Lady of the Cold's design in the 1990 cartoon is radically different.
This is the avatar I've been using every December until Christmas since my first year here (2012).
-
Mine is the symbol of Socialist International. I like what they stand for, and I've always found it to be a beautiful image, if a bit poorly-drawn.

Hector, the mascot of Hammerfall.
