Title: Man with strange name arrested a second time
Post by: Shane for Wax on August 18, 2013, 04:49:03 pm
Quote

Felony drug charges have been filed against Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop. The 32-year-old goes by Beezow.

He was arrested July 20 in Iowa’s Washington County. He remained in the county jail Saturday. He was booked into jail as Jeffrey D. Wilschke, which is the name on his driver’s license, even though he legally changed his name in 2011.

Online court records did not list a defense attorney Saturday.

Beezow was arrested for drug possession in Madison in 2012. That arrest brought national attention to his name, which became fodder for TV anchors and late-night talk show hosts.

I'm guessing Beezow isn't going to learn?

How else is he going to get on TV?

With a name like that, I would think the last thing I want would be national attention.

Let alone local attention.

He changed his name to that of his own accord. I'm pretty sure he knows exactly what he wants.

As soon as I saw the name, I suddenly knew exactly why he was arrested.

If I were to change my name to something bizarre like that, I'd go with Evil McFucking-Crazy.

If I was going to change my name, it'd only be my given and middle names. If I was going to do something weird, it'd likely be something like "Badass Motherfucker" or "Kurt Trevelyan" or "Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting".

Guess he knew he would constantly be arrested because...because. So why not make the cops' and judges' jobs harder by forcing them to say his new name? "Say my name, biatch...say it!":)

So, yeah, I'd change mine to the old classic I. M. Sofa King Whet Ahdid.

If I were to change my name, my name would be Inigo Montoya.

Or, on a more serious note, I would drop my last name altogether and replace it with my middle name.

If I had to change my last name, it would be after we get hand-fasted, to a combination of our last names.

(Yes I'm already thinking of marriage, is that strange?)

If I changed my name, I'd drop half my surname. Compound surnames are annoying (plus they sound pretentious).

But not as pretentious as people who have who have like 5 middle names on top of a hyphenated surname.

Oh :(

I just noticed that could be seen as a response to you, but I didn't mean it that way. The pretentiousness is a particularity of my societal context, where people with double Spanish surnames are assumed to be descendants of old money families who own vast expanses of land (I'm not, I just happen to have that sort of name). Doesn't really apply to compound names due to marriage (or most other reasons).

But not as pretentious as people who have who have like 5 middle names on top of a hyphenated surname.

Once I was hanging out with a bunch of people who came from a rural area, and a lot of them had two or three middle names, on top of the fact that their parents add things like "Lee" or "Ann" to the end of their first names. I don't know if it has anything to do with where they came from, but it made me and my measly little name feel rather inadequate.

I've only seen hyphenated surnames used for egalitarian purposes (i.e., in egalitarian opposite-sex marriages or in same-sex marriages where no one wants to give up their surname). It does cause problems, however, when two people with hyphenated surnames want to get married.

I've got two middle names as a family tradition: every male in my father's family is given the second middle name of "Stewart". My dad's family is old money Scottish.

Am I the only one with broken smileys?

It seems to be trying to load them from the old FSTDT address.

I have thought about changing my last name. All I'd do is drop the apostrophe, which has caused me no end of problems. But I figured that changing it would only make things worse.

No. All I'll say is that it's one of the more common Irish surnames.

if my brother wouldn't Gibbs-slap me into next year, I'd... probably change it to Cerim Treascair legally.  Since nobody can pronounce 'Bryn' half the fucking time.

Hint:  It rhymes with 'grin'

They wouldn't be able to pronounce "Cerim Treascair" a twentieth of the time.

Wait, seriously? I got it right the first time. I personally have heard so many variations on my last name it's not even funny. 10 letter German names will do that to you. Actually, that seems to apply to any German names up here. A good friend of mine and my gf both have the same issue, to the point where she just uses the most common pronunciation, because apparently nobody can learn that the "t" is silent. Me? I just make them say mine repeatedly until they can do it right.

Must have a th somewhere in the name.

Edit: I think in general people have trouble with names. My surname isn't hard to pronounce, but people mess it up commonly. And for some reason people like to add an h to my middle name. Which wouldn't bother me, except I've had people do that with paperwork for loans. That invariably holds up the loan.

Whose, mine or hers? Hers ends in an "ht" and mine has no "th".

People mess up my first name all the time.

And at the hospital I'm called 'Leon' by the guy who delivers the meals to the patients which is part of my last name and I have no idea why this person calls me as such because my full name is always on the meal ticket and it ain't 'Leon'. But I don't have the heart to correct the old guy.

Oh fuck. Derp moment. Mixed up my German rules, the h is silent in th combination. How the fuck I messed that up I don't know.
