Miserably, one of my cousins (who wanted her child, and she's an awesome mom at 22) went through that recently.  It fucking stopped when her dad pulled out a nine iron from the golf clubs he carries around in his car and clocked one of the guys.  Everybody stared at him after he laid the asshole out.  All he had to do was say one thing.

"That was my nine iron.  I have another fourteen clubs at my disposal.  Step away from my daughter and leave her alone, or I'll happily send you all to the hospital."

The cops didn't arrest my uncle, because it wasn't lethal force and the group were harrassing my cousin first.  Weird case of 'self-defense by proxy'.

Are you sure the cops didn't just think the asshole deserved a nine iron shaped lump in the head or worse and decided to call it legit? 

What was your cousin doing/where was she that she had to put up with that sort of shit because I just can't imagine this was a random occurance?

It may be that they may have thought the guy had it coming.  One of the cops that showed up was an assistant football coach for the high school right next door.  And apparently the guy my uncle whacked had... a history of being a racist, sexist dickhole.  And actively LOOKING for trouble.

And my cousin was out shopping for furniture with her parents for her new place with her then-fiance (now hubby, and happily married).  They got accosted in the parking lot.

That same theme has been seen in many political comics. BECAUSE THAT APPEARS TO BE SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE SAID AGAIN AND AGAIN BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT WHY POOR PEOPLE DESERVE MORE HELP THAN THE RICH.

Unfortunately, I have a rather sensitive tongue, and I can pretty much always tell between artificial sweetener like Splenda or aspartame and either high-fructose corn syrup or regular sugar.  The aftertaste of the former is a fucking killer, lemme tell ya.  Then, there's Sugar In The Raw, which pretentious places like Starbucks use in place of real fucking sugar.  Sugar In The Raw may be "raw sugar," but lemme tell ya, it can't sweeten a cup of coffee anymore than I could with my own saliva; that is to say, not at fucking all.

Oddly, I have found a very specific brand of diet soda I like.  I don't usually like diet any-other-stuff.  This one, however, tastes good, like it works with the artificial sweetener instead of trying to force it in in place of sugar.
