Well, on the one hand, they apologized:
https://archive.is/sVG61On the other, they used an excuse I've come to loathe:
What do they want to accomplish with the report? "It is just to raise awareness," she said. "We just wanted to stimulate debate and say this is an area of increasing concern and it needs to be discussed."
MAYBE your "discussion starters" should be rooted in fact!
And there's other bullshit too:
I think it's just a product of the terrible scramble around the launch date.
That's an outright lie. The original PDF had a creation date of 2 weeks before the presentation. Limited run printing has a 1-2 day turnaround. No fucking excuse.
It's a difficult area because there are certainly studies that show no link [to real world violence]. But I think on the other side of the debate there's still some question because there's no longitudinal study. This is an area where it's complicated and I think we need to rely on the psychological studies.
Jesus fucking Christ, it's ridiculous how these people think. "Look at this giant pile of evidence which goes against my pre-determined conclusion, what crazy mental gymnastics can I do to make myself appear right?"
