Does anyone have any advice on re-location? Never had to move quite like this before. Closest I’ve had is going away for college?

If you haven't, you're going to want to work out a rough budget so you know what range of housing you can afford. Take pictures of your apartment/whatever when you move in, make sure a timestamp is visible on them. There are less than honest landlords out there who will argue that pre-existing damage was caused by you.

Pay attention to what utilities are included and which you're responsible for. You'd be amazed at how much it can vary.

If you have a lot of stuff, Uhaul is your friend.

Moving out for the first time is expensive. Check Goodwill for pots, pans, and furniture. See if there's stuff that family or friends are willing to part with. The less stuff you have to buy new the better. Then as you save money you can replace the crappier items. If you have the money, a new bed is worth it right from the start.

I should still have pots and pans from college. Never unpacked them. So I am set there. Furniture, not so much. The Apartment-style housing we had was partially furnished, and my roommates brought the rest. Got a spare chair or two that the parents are willing to part with, though.

Got bare-bones bed frame available, too.

It’s really budgeting for the utilities that is driving me crazy. Not going to get a good sense of that before I get a chance to talk to some of the people here. I really hope I don’t get one of those jackass landlords.

Landlords are hit and miss, if you end up with a shitty one move out once your lease is up.

Definitely. I have a hard enough time dealing with non-assholes.
