Conservatives know literally nothing about anything.
Ironically the Puritans were big government types. There was a reason the British exiled them. Also we are thankful for no big government interfering with our genocide
The puritans were a real pain in the goddam ass. They're responsible for at least three wars- the English Civil*, 80 years and 30 years wars. Together they probably killed four million people. Why? Because, unlike normal Protestants, they just couldn't stand living on a planet with Catholics on it as well. Hence their attempt to get as far away from said Catholics as possible (they weren't really "exiled" in any real sense). They were willing to even fight to overthrow Protestant governments who were unwilling to murder all their Catholic population: they were objecting not so much to their own persecution, which typically sat on a scale somewhere between negligible and no worse than everyone else, but to the non-persecution of others. They also literally banned Christmas. Literally true. It happened.
*Admittedly this one was more complex. In fact, they're all more complex, but stupid Puritan intolerance was a major part of all three.
