ok so they faked the shooting
...and got two people to allow themselves to be killed to further the illusion
...and got all their family members to go along with it
...and the corroners
...and the police
...and the numerous witnesses that were right there
...and even got the gunman to kill himself to not let on how no one really got shot
wouldn't it have been easier to just really shoot two people on tv?
a) At that point wouldn't it be better if the two people just pretended to die? Why kill them for real if the shooting wasn't real?
b) Obviously you just hire some random people who would claim to be their family members and bribing coroners is ridiculously easy. Reminder that there was a coroner who falsified dozens of records to make murders look like suicides. Including a guy who was crushed under a bulldozer.
c) Killing the actor who played the "gunman" is just getting rid of liabilities. ...Except that doing the same to the "victims" would also be smart and at that point:
d) Hiring someone to just shoot few people for real and then killing them would be much easier.
OR if you really want to make sure you can push your "guns are evil" cause without getting caught there is even easier way:
1) Premake all the needed speeches and related media stuff for the next massive shootout in USA.
2) Wait for a week or two until the next massive shootout in USA happens.
