In response to the Fandumb thread and that anticorn group, and about how the idea that "marrying into royalty is always better"...
That mindset is part of the entire reason why princesses are treated as sexist joke of pretty much everything. "Princess is just a purty title to be purty and make you speshul!"
But hell, in MLP, being a princess is actually a fucking duty. Princesses kick ass, princesses are more or less queens in all but name (to an extent). It's a title you have to actually earn, which Twilight Sparkle did.
...And here's the part where I realize I'm nerding out about MLP.
Regardless, the fact that people are STILL upset about the alicorn thing peeves me. The fandom is so young and yet it's already got a whole bunch of "CHANGES ARE BAD BAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW" nerds.
Have these people always been around since the beginning of the first fandom? Because it feels like there's a lot more people resistant to change in their favorite media now than there was before.
