I awoke this morning to my apartment's groundskeeper using a leaf blower at 8:40 on a Saturday morning. After it woke my wife up too, I went downstairs and politely asked him to do that later.
His response:
"It's Saturday. There's no specific time that we're supposed to start on Saturday. This machine can't wake you up. When I'm sleeping, I can tune out anything, so it's all in your head, it's not the machine. I'm not being mean or anything, and I respect that you have the audacity to come down here and ask me to stop this, because that's respect. So, no."
It's all in my head and it is audacious to ask somebody not to use loud equipment early in the morning, right by tenant's windows? This basically translates to "go fuck yourself." We're on the top floor, and my wife can sleep through almost anything. If it work her up, it woke up that entire side of the building. I wasn't asking him not to work, I was asking him to do something quiet. For example, he is now working in the garden in the courtyard, which makes no noise at all.
And, I see no point in complaining to the apartment manager, because though he's a nice guy, he's grossly incompetent, and never does anything. When we moved in, he promised to make 6 different repairs in the apartment, only one of which has been completed.
Fuck this place. Only 9.5 months to go.
