There was, until recently, a prayer banner at a high school in Rhode Island. An atheist teenager asked that the banner be taken down, and a federal court there agreed. Now, of course, she's been getting a lot of flack over it from Christians because of it.
You know how the fundies often say they're being persecuted? Well, it just goes to show that if you want to see what they're up to, simply look at what they're accusing the other side of.

Let me make this clear: I have nothing against religious people. Only fuckwits who use their religion as an excuse to abuse others. The fact that these fundies are doing it tells me they need to have a log extraction.
After all, it must be a real hassle to keep your head up when you have a log sticking out of your eye.

You know the funny thing is that he talks about democracy and majority rule, but if Muslims were somehow suddenly the majority in his community and they wanted to put up an Islamic prayer banner, he'd be shtting himself.

I say, without reservation, qualification, or doubt, that this man is the single biggest asshole I've ever known. And honestly, while I implied what he was doing was without justification, I would kind of like to see it happen to him. He deserves some sort of karmic comeuppance.

I think you're right, unfortunately. Heck, I think it's safe to say that most non-Americans know the Establishment Clause better than most conservatives who have run for office here (the USA) in the last dozen years or so. :(

The messed up part is that most of the students probably didn't give much of a rat's ass about the banner to begin with -- they're merely getting sucked into mob mentality, bullying this girl because it's what the crowd is doing and makes them feel superior.
