Cartoon Network is showing Toonami right now. They have new TOM bumps and everything.

Please don't let this be an April fools joke.

I just checked, and holy shit man, it is Toonami! When the hell did this happen? I've heard nothing about this. I'd think the return of Toonami would be big shit to most people on the internet.

I wonder if we can get them to make another season of Big O. I hate being Gainax'd because they don't know if there will be another season.

Ah, one of my personal favorites (Outlaw Star, that is).  I was gonna go to bed, but this so changes things. ;D  And yeah, I saw the commercial.  Definitely is Toonami, although this totally seems too good to be true.  The fact that it is April 1st makes me think that this is just a one time deal.  :(

I heard about this a few days ago, apparently  Cartoon Network took the hint from Nickelodeon, and now they'll be showing blocks of cartoons from the 90s called "Cartoon Planet".  I don't get Boomerang, either at my college or home, so I can't wait to re-watch the shows I grew up watching.  Although, I never watched Toonami(do I have to hand in my geek card?), so I'll have to wait for other shows like Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, etc.

I really hope it is true, and wasn't just an early April Fool's prank that was just a one day event.

The commercial bumper said that they're showing Big O next and then Yu Yu Hakusho

Cartoon network doesn't have the rights to YYH anymore. Why would they acquire the right just for a April Fools joke? They even hired Steve Blum to do brand new commercial bumpers. Something is telling me they're building hype for a return of Toonami.

So far the schedule is:

Toonami could take it on Saturdays.  That, or [as] could stop being a bitch and leeching of other channels, and finally make itself a separate channel unto itself.

Toonami was organized by Williams Street.

How could they "not touch it"? They were the ones who created it in the first place. What needs to happen is [adult swim] gets pushed onto it's own channel, and all of the anime and action shows currently on it get moved to toonami, with [as] keeping its stoner comedy stuff. CN and [as] are already considered separate networks for ratings purposes, anyway.

This seems promising.

Any ideas for new shows to add to their lineup in addition to their old stuff? They have to keep adding new stuff, insted of just rehashing their old shows. It would get stale otherwise. You can't run an entire programming block on nostalgia.

Well, ya see...I didn't know Williams St. organized Toonami.  I still don't trust em, though...I mean, they let Saved By The Bell air on Adult Swim.  That alone is damning.

If they're going to show more mature programming, one thing I'd like to see is uncut versions of shows they used to air on Toonami.  Rurouni Kenshin is one that I would like to see.  People are getting slashed with swords, let's see more blood!!!

Also the fact that the episode contains plot-critical information for the finale. When they originally aired the show, they decided that there was no way to cut it down enough to meet broadcast standards, so they skipped it entirely. As a result, a major plot point came out of nowherein the last episode.
