Don't feel bad. Being a German speaker I tend to default to the actual translation even with my exposure to the PacRim fandom.

I guess it's sorta like being in chorus in school where the group sings multiple parts.  I default to the tenor-baritone line of a lot of Christmas songs.  We also did Silent Night in German and now I think of it in German and ALSO the tenor-baritone line.   It's quite different to the alto-soprano melody line.

So I ordered a Christmas gift for a fried way back at the beginning of December, and it still hasn't arrived. Seriously, look at this:



The damn thing didn't even ship until over two weeks after I ordered it, then sat in Los Angeles for an eternity.

A very lovely family member got me WoW with the Mist of Panderia upgrade as a Christmas gift. Which is all levels of awesome. But I don't know when they think I'm going to be able to play it.

Is it sad that I've heard that exact argument used against women playing games...and it was made as an actual, serious argument?

Women can't get a break in WoW. When I played DPS (usually hunter or lock) I was told I should be training heals since those are "toons for chicks." Then they get mad because their female healer had to leave to take care of her kids.

I also ran an instance a great while back where the healer and one of the DPS claimed to be related. The tank bitched the whole time because "WoW's not for family bonding."

Healers don't get respect until the team goes. "Oh crap... where's all our white magic peeps!?  Potions?  Anybody got potions PLZ!".

Same thing happened to me when I was new to Final Fantasy.  White Mages/Healers are godsends.

Especially once your Big, Beefy Distraction starts to die because you pissed off your team's only medic.  Thankfully, I never did that, so my Big, Beefy Distraction characters almost always live, barring a catastrophe or scripted event.

My last DnD game I was a Bard/Healer/ that could also fight if I had to, though I left that mostly for the meat shields.
