Gaming fandom is not among the better fandoms. Neither are the companies now that I think about it.

This is why I like to stay a good 3 or 4 years behind the curve when it comes to gaming. It's a hell of a lot cheaper and pointless hype fests like E3 are utterly irrelevant.

I consider myself part of that fandom, but I don't really pay much attention to most recent games. I have a SNES, a Wii, and some N64 games on Virtual Console, and my portable games are mostly GBA or earlier. I'm fine with sticking with my retro stuff and tend to agree with what Art said earlier about being behind the curve.

That said, I'm rather disappointed with how the Zelda fandom hates whatever the most recent 3D title was until the next one comes out, at which point the previous one suddenly becomes the best hing ever and they wish the new one was more like it. Seen it with The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword so far.
