I wouldn't be embarrassed about having an IUD inserted, just scared of the pain. Nurses see that crap all day, and they've seen far worse.

Yeah, that is one thing I'm thankful for not being biologically female. (Granted I wish I was but I can live without the whole bleeding from my crotch for several days out of the month part.)

Before I went on the pill, I used to get heavy, quite painful periods twice a month. Sometimes more. I was anemic, constantly lethargic and breathless and missing school all the time. At some points, I was spending more time ON my period than off.

It was ridiculous and made me hate nature.

Yeah, I spent most of high school moderately to severely anemic, despite taking iron pills. My period was so whacked that I had a D&C while I was in the psych ward (because I would. not. stop. bleeding. and the doctors thought something had gone terribly wrong). Nothing abnormal came up in the tissue analysis, but dear god were the cramps horrible.
