Kanye West has explained his decision to disrupt Beck’s acceptance speech after the American indie singer took home the Grammy for Album of the Year.
“Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé,” West said in an interview with E! after the ceremony. “At this point we tired of it because what happens is when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats in music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration.
“We aren’t playing with them anymore. And by the way, I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight, but you all knew what it meant when ’Ye stepped on that stage.”
His brief stage invasion at Sunday night’s Grammy awards at first seemed like a nod to his famous interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs. However, it was once again a defence of Beyoncé.
What a family. His wife shows off her ass in magazines and he talks out of his. Maybe he shouldn't be allowed at award shows without a muzzle.

Well, clearly the answer is that now on every Grammy should either go to Kanye West or Beyonce Knowles.

I think the REAL controversy here is that fuckin' Tenacious D won the Grammy for best Metal performance with a cover of a Dio song. I actually like the band, but how do you NOT give the award to Mastodon? the choices weren't that great but theirs was clearly the best on the list.

One would hope indeed. I think Kanye will try to do anything he can to stay relevant. After all, look at whom he is married to.
Besides, Beck isn't some run-of-the-mill music entertainer; he is a multi Grammy winning music artist. Kanye doesn't have the authority to label someone as an artist or not, no matter how much he wants to. What makes Beck so endearing is his humility, and the fact he isn't getting so riled up over Kanye's antics. He's better than that, and he has better things to do.
Also, it's good to see that I'm not the only one a little concerned over Kanye's obsession with Beyoncé.

If we're lucky, they'll also punch him so hard they break his jaw and he won't be able to talk for a year or three.

I've actually seen people try to defend Kanye on this. He apparently was actually saying that the white dominated music industry needs to acknowledge black artistry and should have given Beyonce the award for that reason.
Ignoring the fact that he's saying that the woman who needs 4 people to write a song (and won three of her SIX nominations anyway) deserves the award that the guy who plays 14 instruments won and the fact that the Grammys are bullshit anyway, Beyonce is one of the biggest pop acts in the fucking world. I'm fairly certain that means that her artistry is pretty damn respected.
However, Kanye does have a point.
The music industry does have a horrible history of selling black culture to white audiences and whitewashing the achievements of black musicians (where was that one thing that happened where someone gave fucking Elvis credit for creating rock and roll?), as well as focusing on terrible white artists because they're more "marketable" than black artists (Vanilla Ice, anyone?). So in this case, Kanye does have a point.
However, since this is the guy that rushed the stage when Taylor Swift won a Grammy for best video and insisted that Beyonce had one of the "best videos of all time! OF ALL TIME!!!" and the guy that got pissed because he was "snubbed" for an award because his video cost a million dollars and had Pamela Anderson (no seriously, that was his reasoning for why he got snubbed), I highly doubt that he meant to make that point. Kanye is a loudmouth with a giant ego.
He didn't make these statements out of some righteous crusade to change the music industry, he did it because he fanboys for Beyonce (in a rather creepy way, I might add) and thinks he knows better than anyone else who deserves awards.
Here's my question: Why didn't Kanye get upset that Sam Smith, who is white and a proven plagiarist, walked away with Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album? I'm sure the fact that Beyonce wasn't nominated for those awards is totally unrelated.
That said, fuck the Grammys. There is so much music that they flat out ignore.

Dane Cook is an incredibly obnoxious, unfunny comedian who was briefly a superstar for some reason, despite even the people who like him not actually finding him funny. His general "joke" is to rapid fire out random things.
Slipknot is the Dane Cook of metal because they're an obnoxious, boring band that is extremely popular despite doing nothing interesting and being completely derivative of other bands.

I agree with ya there. I find Jack Black to be utterly intolerable.
Also, if Kanye wants to fuck Beyonce, he should do like every other "gangsta" rapper, and just outright say it. Don't be a frontin little pussy-ass mark, Kanye.

I actually love slipknot. The only thing i dont like about them is their live shows. coreys vocals went terrible and he swears every second sentence. I get it, think saying fuck is edgy you can stop it now

Kanye isn't a "gangsta" style rapper. At the beginning of his rapping career, when the world didn't know how much of an egomaniac he really is, he was considered to be a rather clean-cut hip-hop artist. Kanye was featured on the Chappelle Show musical segments, which featured Neo-Soul and Indie artists in the Hip-Hop and R&B genres. He even got to be interviewed by Oprah in 2005, and Oprah usually doesn't interview rappers and has criticized the misogynistic elements of gangsta rap. Furthermore, if you didn't grow up "in the 'hood" or "the streets", and you start doing Gangsta rap, you'll get called out for it.
Anyway, I think Kanye is going to learn eventually that the music industry is its own entity, and he can't singlehandedly change it to what he feels is proper, no matter what he does. Even if he insists on learning the hard way, he's going to learn.
