That is a good point, Yae.

The problem is that any brony who tries to educate people that, hey, there's good people in the fandom, it's going to increasingly come across as apologetics.  Which is something I want to avoid.

That being said, this wasn't even that serious of a suggestion.  Fact of the matter is, the only people I talk to about this thing are people who already know the fact that not all bronies are like that.  But increasingly, the label "brony" seems to be becoming more and more... indefensible.

Kinda like calling yourself pro-life for being against the death penalty, and saying that you don't actually care about abortions.
Mockery of ideas you don't comprehend or understand is the surest mark of unintelligence.

Even the worst union is better than the best Walmart.

I think the main issue there would be not to apologize things that you shouldn't try to. Just because I'm also a brony doesn't mean I need to defend the type of person that faps to Cupcakes. At that point, it's like defending yourself for being human when Adolf Hitler was also human.

Which is why I stress that education is important. People need to realize that "brony" is actually a very broad label, one that can fit many different types of people. Yes, it includes some very undesirable people--but so does basically every other label, including some of the ones that would apply to whoever is hating on the bronies. Any hobby or interest is going to attract it's fair share of crazies. In that way, MLP is no different from anything else people happen to enjoy. It's not fair to judge a community by the worst among them, because if we did, then no human being alive could be judged well.

Getting people to understand that is the only real way to make progress with this kind of thing, I feel.

So I just wanted to pop in and offer my thoughts on this episode.  I thought it was...decent.  It's certainly not my favorite of the season or series as a whole, but it was okay.  Then again, I realize that an episode like this with the focus it had was probably difficult to write for.  In that regard, I'm a little more forgiving of some of the parts of the episode that fell a bit flatter to me.

On that note, MLP supports bribing!  That IS what Spike did to keep Granny Smith quiet, after all. :P

I'm enjoying this season. Just wish it was longer.

Also, potential major spoiler:

I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

Yes it is. It's on The Hub's facebook page.

It should, however, be under a spoiler tag. Since not everyone wants info like this in advance.

I seriously hope this isn't a permanent change.

I seriously hope this isn't a permanent change.

I can take or leave permanency. It's been pretty obvious since even the earliest episodes that this was in her future.

The main issue I see with it being permanent is that it would pretty drastically change the storytelling direction of the series. And honestly, with Hasbro imposing more and more on the show, I'm not sure the show can handle it in an appropriate way.

Edit: Gonna add a bit under a spoiler tag.

Speaking on behalf of the pre-readers, most of us are reacting with "Buck us with Luna's back hooves, the fic's going to be TERRIBLE"

On the other hoof? depending on how they spin it, it might not be too bad.
There is light and darkness in the world, to be sure.  However, there's no harm to be had in walking in the shade or shadows.

cue someone's wrath about spoilers in 3, 2, 1...
That being said, as long as it's handled well I see potential, though personally I don't think it will be permanent.

Nicki, you mean the one spoiler that even with the most modest dabbling in the fandom is impossible to avoid at this point?  Let's just say that I know, but care to keep speculation minimal.

About the only thing I care to speculate is this:  I've heard the season finale is a "one parter."  What if they're secretly hiding a between season cliffhanger in that statement?  That would be interesting.

Especially with that DVD that's coming out in between seasons.
A limerick:

His rainbows around like a dove
"Always I'll be with you
And then make-believe with you
Harmony, Harmony, oh love"

First, Hasbro's openly said this is permanent.

Second? I highly doubt they'd do a between-seasons cliffhanger for a little girl's cartoon.  They haven't done one EVER for ANY cartoon between seasons (that I know of), they won't start now.  Not even with pony.
