I'm not 100% positive why we need "a Thing." Aside from being connected to FSTDT, I've always seen this place as a skeptic forum. I'm not saying that we can't still do these things, as we already have an IRC, a Steam group, & whatever else, but I don't see why we need "a Thing."

Because outside of Something Awful and 4Chan, forums tend not to survive on their own. There needs to be something to get people's attention and bring in new people. It used to be the Mainpage (that's how pretty much everyone found this place), now we need something to replace it.

As an added benefit, perhaps having something in which to channel our collective energy will mean less drama and general nonsense.

There are lots of skeptic forums, we need a reason for people to visit this one in particular.

Basically, advertising, but with more interesting content than your typical internet ads.

I spose I could write gaming-related entries: reviews, critiques, commentary about the industry or various communities and the like.  I'd do video reviews a la Marc0, but my laptop can barely handle PLAYING some games, let alone recording them; and I still haven't figured out how to work Adobe Premiere Pro.  I know I could do at least one thing easily: Minecraft mod reviews.  I've been playing with those a lot, so I can not just give opinions, but maybe even suggestions of mods to use in conjunctions with the one being reviews, like Extra Bees for Forestry or GregTech for IndustrialCraft.

Well I was joking originally, but maybe if we pick some porn with plot and then discuss the plot and actual acting? You know just sticking to the SFW parts?

Although I think even that would lose it's novelty pretty soon.
