What the heck is this thread supposed to be about?

As the resident Person Who Gives An Undeserved Amount Of Importance To This Thread's History, I will tell you the tale.

Basically, there was this thread about someone who felt they were a thread killer, i.e. nobody replied to their posts in a thread and so it died. People kept the thread about thread killing alive because, y'know, funny. Since it had to be kept alive at all costs, people posted on any subject at all. The conversation died down sometimes, but eventually someone remembered it and posted again. It was reincarnated time and time again after forum issues made it die, and after we switched forums to ProBoards, and then after we switched to SimpeMachines.

The full story is much more detailed and glorious, but eh. Nobody cares.

Does anyone else find those Netflix “Quiz Show Ads” to be totally stupid? I mean, they set the whole thing up with two questions and answers that are totally nonsensical non-sequiturs. This conditions the audience to expect a third non-sequitur, does it not? Yet they expect us to believe them when their third question/answer about how great Netflix is. But, you know what? I really cannot believe them, because the fact that Netflix lets you stream movies instantly is apparently in the same category as the fact that the opposite of “Wall” is “Gazelle.”

Radio ads, actually. Advertising for Netflix.

They feature a fake trivia quiz show. They always start out with two questions that are generally total nonsense. Things like:

Emcee: If the grass is greener on the other side, what does the doorbell sound like?
Contestant: Uh, kumquat?
Emcee: Correct!

(Not an actual example.)

Then the third is one of several things like:

Emcee: How fast can you watch movies using Netflix?
Contestant: Instantly.
Emcee: Correct! You can stream movies instantly using your computer, gaming console, or other devices!

(actual example)

So, they spend two thirds of the commercial establishing that the whole thing is nonsense, and then they expect us to take the last third seriously?

The whole “Other devices” thing bugs me, too. I mean, my blender is a device, but it ain’t streaming no Netflix. And they manage to work in that phrase almost every time.
