I identify as "liberal" and nearly always vote Democrat, but being on this board has certainly challenged this label. I am pro-authoritarian as in the opposite of libertarian. On the liberal side, I'm for LGBT equality, for universal healthcare, for progressive income tax, and pro-choice (within first trimester unless there are medical issues). On the conservative side I'm for isolationist foreign policy (although the neocons like more war, this is more Ron Paul-style conservative), for a more restricted reading of the Interstate Commerce Clause, against illegal immigration, and against anonymous sperm donation.
I'm against a lot of the nonsense on this board that is pervasive here but non-existant in actual politics, namely legalization of polygamous and incestuous marriages. I have very little sympathy for people who willfully choose to engage in certain behaviors that are contradictory to social norms, which I wholly distinguish from certain immutable traits.
