What I want to know is how this even happened in the first place. None of the articles mention if her son had power of attorney.

Its a bit extreme though, one missed tax payment and they just up and turf you on the pavement without any warning? Craziness.

The whole farce here is just ridiculous. I hope something's done for her. And it is madness...over one missed tax payment? In most places, evictions require at least 30 days notice, and most, IIRC, require 60-90 days.

I suppose it depends. When I was being evicted it only took 21 days. HUD can kick you out the same day. And the way the Government's chasing people for money* it really doesn't surprise me they'd do this


*guy at work owed 26 dollars to the IRS last year. The IRS has repeatedly threatened him to pay it including sending letters to his "place of employment". He refuses to pay because he asks "What's 26 bucks in the Fed's bucket"
