So I'm going on my nightly walk, and I see a car with a licence plate that reads "SJW" and now I can't stop thinking about the "Worst of Social Justice" thread.

Apparently there's a new Facebook prank going around, where you post a shocking fake status of some kind and then send a message to everyone who liked and commented on it with a list of shocking fake statuses that they can choose from. It's "Breast Cancer Awareness."

I simply sent back the message "I REFUSE TO BOW TO THE PATRIARCHY".

I put an Algebra I word problem about zombies on a test that my students will take later this week.  Let's see if they complain that the questions are boring now.

What's the point of fingerless gloves?

Protects chafing on the palms of your hands while still giving you most of your finger dexterity.

Also, I wear half-finger gloves during airsoft because they protect the majority of my very vulnerable hands from BB impacts while letting me have the feeling and dexterity needed to accurately fire and reload.

Give a man a fire and he's warm for the night.  Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Give a man $10 and he can eat for a day. Kick his teeth in and he'll never bother you for money again.

Since we didn't have a thread about webcomics (or if there was one it was really old.) I might as well gush about this here. I found a new webcomic yesterday. Or actually two.

http://www.minnasundberg.fi

There is Stand Still. Stay Silent which is a postapocalyptic webcomic and Dream's of a Redtail which is a fantasy webcomic. I started reading the latter one and it is drawn amazingly beautifully and the story is good as well.

I'll read that one before going to the post-apoc one. (I actually found out about this when someone posted a map about SSSS on the net.)
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

I've been reading SSSS for a couple of weeks (months?) now, it's quite good. The artwork is just beautiful all around.

Haven't taken a look at aRTD yet, though I'm bound to do an archive binge at some point.

You know, it makes sense that gangstas and rednecks are similar.  If you look at history, you can see why they're so similar.  They're basically descended from Southern working class culture, which has always been multiracial.  It's just that a lot of African-Americans had to leave the South in the first half of the 20th century because the segregation and the racist policies of the region forced them into other parts of the country to find work.  So gang bangers are really just citified hillbillies with baggier clothes IMO.

In fact, the two groups actually share a common cultural ancestor in the English Lowlanders.  Both groups' distinctive dialects are derived from Elizabethan English.

Today I learned that the guy who played Jimmy Olsen in Smallville is in fact not the same guy who played Iceman in X-Men, but rather his identical twin. Also, the latter was an Animorph and the former a recurring character in Veronica Mars.
