I'm not sure if I should make a separate thread for this, but I have considered making one on looking back on this year.
As for me:
All things considered, 2013 was a shitty year. The only good thing that ever happened this year was the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act and that's it. I will remember 2013 as the "Year of Misogyny": A couple states - including mine - passed restrictive anti-abortion laws in spite of a great big number of said states being against them and those people being ignored by these assholes. Also, Men's Right Activism rising relentlessly even when the movement is frequently mocked. Then back home in Texas the constant antagonism toward Wendy Davis and other feminist politicians. And in gaming news, neckbeards crying over a female manager for some project kickstarted and authorized by Megaman's author. And once more, the gaming community continues to be misogynistic. And in the ever misogynistic (when it shouldn't) My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom, Down With Molestria is launched in response to an ever popular (and ever disgusting) OOC character blog Ask Molestria, also receives death threats, even been attacked in person by said disgruntled fans. Fan-game Super Lesbian Horse RPG (it's not as bad as it sounds, trust me) has lead character Fluttershy's house with a 'DWM' plaque and once more disgruntled fans attempt erasure of the game's existence over a stock image of a farm in the game (as a gag).
I repeat, in 2013 people still have a Kirche, Kinder, Kitschen and 'sex object' attitude of women and that offends me.
I can't see 2014 as any better at all either, but that's because I am a pessimist, all in thanks to the despair caused by living in a state like Texas.
