It's basically the HD edition of the original Postal. I don't think I've seen this much hysteria over nothing since the San Andreas Hot Coffee mod.

Hatred could have been interesting if it was meant as an over the top parody or deconstruction of what some people who don't understand video games think games are (would also help if it was released 10 years ago when they were relevant, but I digress), but the fact that it's supposed to be taken seriously makes it look just plain childish.

And the dev's claim that the game isn't political is such a load of horseshit. It was created by the same mentality that lead to black metal. It's a poor taste statement of their belief that games shouldn't be art or try to have any level of depth.

I don't think it was ever meant to be anything intelligent in the first place. Unfortunately, all of the moral panic it whipped up made it seem at a glance to be so much more important than it really is. People expect it to be either the death of gaming or a biting and brilliant satire of violence in video games and society or something. When it turns out to just be the mediocre twin stick shooter for people who listen to a little too much Linkin Park that is was always meant to be, suddenly both sides are underwhelmed.

Exactly like that. A few pages back, Madman was demanding this "piece of shit" be pulled from Steam. Now he's saying it's positively tame. You see people, this is why moral panic over violent video games is just fucking stupid.

a) THE TRAILER HAS A SNAKEMAN! YAY!

b) The game takes place on Earth AFTER the aliens have taken over it and X-COM makes up the resistance against the ADVENT that controls Earth. ...I wonder if this time we get to do the Terror Missions?

c) YAY!

d) The tall Sectoid is probably a human-sectoid hybrid. Since those were in X-com 3 already.
