The first two I can understand, it's the second two I have a problem with.
The third one comes pretty naturally to parents and the fourth is good to an extent. You should support your kids when they find a hobby or job or something that they love.
Yeah, but on the other hand, the second two come off as what some criticize "modern" parenting of being: namby-pamby bullshit that constantly coddles children, teaches them fucking nothing except to have complete contempt for authority. I don't advocate beating kids, or really getting physical in your punishment at all outside a slap on the wrist or something unless they just put themselves in immediate, extreme danger.
However, the second two bits do sound like they're basically saying "Oh, by the way, don't you dare discipline your children."
