And now for the happy. Four (semi) good things have happened in the last 24 hours.
1) A friend from the writing groups turned 32 yesterday. We spent her birthday working on what were supposed to be drabbles (short stories normally not topping 75 words). Because we kept hive-minding it we only got 8 of our 13 prompts done but it was a definite case of quality over quantity. None of them ended up being drabbles. 5 were ficlets (stories under 500 words). The other three topped out at 859, a little over 2,300, and a little over 3,500 respectively. The 3,500 one also started out as being finished at 801, then one of us would notice something and tweak it. Then the other would see the tweaked work and add something. And that kept going on til we got the little monster.
2) Puppy fail. Now, normally puppy fail is a bad to very bad thing. Today it was just cute. Bella tried to chase her tail, seeming to forget that she is a rottweiler and there for has no tail to chase.
3) One of my favorite authors, whose work I envy for the quality of the ideas and because she consistently pushes out 6-15,000 word chapters every few weeks, emailed me. She liked some of my ideas and is using them in an upcoming story. I get giddy when I see an update on one of her works and she thinks my ideas are worth using. That was just a "Wow!" moment for me.
4) My daughter needing no help on her homework. I looked it over, saw nothing wrong with it, and handed it to my mother to see what she thought. My mother didn't even understand some of the problems. That one got amusement points plus mommy pride points.
