Aye. It takes a certain type of person to be able to deal with it. Wanting to help innocent people (such as raped children) isn't enough sometimes. You also have to be able to handle seeing those innocent people affected in such a way. And some people just can't. But it's not a failing. It is never a failing to be so empathetic.

It's like working in the ER. Sure, you help a lot of people but you're also exposed to the worst humanity has to offer. You are also sometimes in danger for whatever reason. I've heard of orderlies and nurses being punched and nearly stabbed by people coming into the ER. One time I was at the hospital, there was some guy who kept yelling and threatening the nurses and orderlies and they had to get security.
