Because X-Men are more famous or at least sell a show better than the FF do? Kinda like why Wolverine is in 50% of the hero teams in Marvel comics.

Have to say, I love the costume. A reminder that female superheroes don't have to be wearing their underwear all the time, and I really like the hood-web aesthetic.

Good point. I really hate stupid female armour/clothing that only tries to be sexy rather than functional. (The only exceptions I give are for comedic or pornographic characters.)

Yeah Marvel went weird for a bit.  Spider-Gwen actually got her own ongoing before Secret Wars happened.

So right now Marvel has two Spider-Men (Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who has relocated to the main universe since Secret Wars destroyed the Ultimate Universe), two Spider-Women (Jessica Drew, the original, and the alternate universe "Spider-Gwen").  And Silk, who's a woman who got spider powers at the same time as Peter, but wasn't created until recently.
