Sort of comparable in that way. Thicke's too old and lacking in "boyish" looks to be a teen heartthrob, though, so he isn't really getting the "lol he's a girly faggot" treatment. Bieber had haters back when he was still an annoying child star, which made it all the more easy for people to jump on him when he had his inevitable meltdown once he hit adulthood. Not that he doesn't deserve to be called out for being a douche, but it seems that a good chunk of his haters are more of the "love to hate" variety than people who actually care that he's done some pretty shitty stuff. The criticism directed towards Thicke feels a lot more genuine, even if there are threads of pop culture backlash running through it.
Mostly I'm just baffled as to how people can love "Blurred Lines" so much. The beat is catchy (you can thank Marvin Gaye for that), but everything else about it makes the song too silly to listen to.
