I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

Thin skinned? Witn all the shit he’s had to put up with, I think it would be a bit more obvious if he were thin-skinned.

Wasn’t it Bush that publicly complained about how hard it was to be president?

If he were thin-skinned, he'd have bitch slapped her...or at least yelled at her until she was deaf.   Personally, I'm curious as to why the Secret Service didn't just shoot 'er in the leg or tackle her ass...

Isn't the SS supposed to stop you from physically hurting the president? I don't think they can do anything to you for yelling at him.

I was always told they could act with "appropriate force" to "perceived threats".

They would have been justified in tasering her ass.
Matthew 22:39 "And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." God's own "don't be a dick" rule.

Lithp and Vene really need to have some kind of confusing sexual encounter where Vene spends the entire session lovingly insulting Lithp's technique, then cums on his face, ruffles his hair, says, "You're all right, kid!", and then punches him in the nuts.

Getting in his face the way she did is aggressive enough to justify some form of intervention as a preventative measure. She only got away with it because she is a state governor.

Something's bothering me. It occurs to me that, if someone did something like that to W while he was in office, I'd laugh my ass off. That sort of makes me a hypocrite, because while I criticize this woman for doing this to Obama, I'd certainly be less defensive of W, simply because I think W's an idiot and probably has it coming and-

Yeah, I'm a hypocrite. At least I recognize it though. xD

I wouldn't have laughed. I might have felt that he deserved it, but whether or not he deserved it, you respect the office. Even if you despise the holder, you still respect the office.

I'm definitely in the "at least I admit it" group.  But while I would have laughed at a mirror image of this incident (W getting dressed down by a liberal governor), I would have still thought the governor was extremely rude and in the wrong for doing so.  I certainly wouldn't have been celebrating that kind of behavior.

But I would also believe that W would have given the signal for the secret service to fuck that person's world up, had the situation occurred.

I think the main issue I have a problem with is that she basically ambushed him on the tarmac. If she wants to debate opinions and books and do her finger waving and such there is a time and a place for it, but not as someone has just disembarked off a plane.

I don't think he was rushing over to her to pick a fight, yet she clearly had some kind of bone to pick and her repeated assertion of him being thin-skinned seems like such a cop out. If I had just arrived at an airport, chances are I would be tired and not in the mood to put up with any kind of personal attack or badgering by an intrusive governor.

I don't really feel the president is entitled to any kind of special respect, and the rights towards freedom of expression allow us to say what we want to him. However, there is a time and a place for everything, and in general it pays to be polite.

In my experience, people accuse others of being "thin skinned" as an excuse for their own rudeness.

Yep. If you take offense or feel hurt by anything, you are obviously thin skinned. ::)
