I don't know about unemployment; he's an independent videographer contracted for the job. He still gets paid for the work he provided, but he's being let go before the project is finished and they're planning on using me for their future work in his place.

However, he can bet his vodka-infused ass that I'll be letting other people in the business know about his work ethic. The guy may be technically competent, but I've seen a lot of the work he's done for the company. He basically has to be forced to dedicate time and effort into making a competent video, and will otherwise just slap it together quick and dirty. His work isn't worth the price he demands for it and anyone who uses his usual videos will end up looking unprofessional and cheap. I want to keep other Florida companies, especially film production companies, from getting ripped off.

I finally fixed my internet connectivity issues, so I can log in from my own computer. Which I now appreciate all the more after using my dad's netbook for weeks.

My office is next to the dance classroom, so I can hear their music.  Today, they were playing "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray, and the speakers kept screwing up and shutting off, thereby stopping the beat.

This served the dual purpose of allowing me to work in peace for a few minutes, and being hilarious.

My cat's doing much better & was finally able to come home from the vet this evening. He's curled up beside me right now, happily snoozing away. So glad to have him home.

I thought this day was going to be awful, but a couple awesome things happened.

1. I got an $800 refund from my school.

2. I got an email from my school asking me to showcase my software project at a luncheon they're having.

3. I got an email from Google wanting to talk about software engineering careers with them.
