I admit that I had the same thought, but I calmed myself down enough to not immediately start shouting THAT'S NOT HOW THAT WORKS!

Perhaps it is some kind of light-marshmallow roaster?

If it is hot enough to poke through ewok torso, it should also wind up slicing through them, thanks to gravity. You would really need some sort of non-slicey type support.

I know you didn't shout, and Zachski didn't either.  I would have, had I not calmed down and realized that it's just a drawing.  However, now that somebody else has pointed it out, I don't feel bad about engaging in the discussion of lightsaber/ewok physics.

*clears throat*

Maybe just the tip is lightsabery, and the rest is solid.  The tip pokes the hole, and then the rest of the shaft slides through it.  Or maybe Vader is using the force to hold the ewoks in place... though I suppose that he would have no reason to use the lightsaber if that was the case.

At least you have nerd company.
