Title: Do Americans love Children or Guns more?
Post by: Skybison on May 26, 2022, 05:42:16 pm
Here is a chart.  I won't comment it speaks for itself.

(https://a.disquscdn.com/get?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nejm.org%2Fna101%2Fhome%2Fliteratum%2Fpublisher%2Fmms%2Fjournals%2Fcontent%2Fnejm%2F2022%2Fnejm_2022.386.issue-20%2Fnejmc2201761%2F20220518%2Fimages%2Fimg_xlarge%2Fnejmc2201761_f1.jpeg&key=UZiA2yqqi0yMmGYVTQ7h_Q&w=600&h=493)

Okay I'll comment a little to clarify that firearm injury is covers murder, suicide and accidents, with most murders being parental abuse not school shootings.  But other then that, uh yeah WTF America?  Child murder and suicide rates by gun are now twice what they were just a few years ago.

Do I need to call CPS on every single one of you?  Cause I'll do it.

1) Culture war, 2) Republicans more afraid of getting primaried by even nuttier Republicans than Democrats 3) Huge money in gun sales and 4) Inevitable blowback when it's pointed out what works in other countries because 'MURICA.

Unfortunately, no. I can't see it changing anytime soon.

Well, I was wrong. The reform that was passed wasn't especially strong, but it was something, which is more than what happened after past shootings.
