Is Kim Jong-un dead?

If he is dead, we're probably not going to hear for a while. When his dad died, the North Korean government waited almost two months to announce it.

None of the major news outlets are talking about it. So it's all rumors at this point. If so he doesn't have any heirs or at least any old enough to take over the country so I detect a huge power struggle coming. Unless they're just willing to let Un's sister take over the country.

Yep. North Korea is a very male chauvinist country, so it's hard to say with certainty that a woman, even a member of the Mount Paektu bloodline, could hold supreme power. There's been speculation that if Kim really is dead, they might establish some kind of regency for his son.

Of course, there's also the possibility that North Korea might have a succession crisis that could erupt into outright civil war. This would almost certainly cause a humanitarian crisis, and quite possibly military intervention from China, South Korea and America, or both.

In all seriousness, his sister has long been groomed to be the next Supreme Leader in case of his death.  That's been an established fact.  And she'd be worse then Kim in all respects.  Why?  Because she's smart.  Like really really smart.  And that scares me.

Ironbite-the only reason North Korea hasn't been much of a problem is due to the dumbness of it's leaders.  She'd be an altogether different kettle of fish.

How do we know their leaders have been dumb? It sounds like they've been perfectly repressing their population and trolling the united states and its allies for decades.

There are rumours that IF he is dead, his sister might be the next in line.

Even the mere rumours of this threw some right wingers batshit nuts because they are furiously screaming that they thought that N-K was "based" but the mere thought that a woman might become the leader of the country scares them. Insert long rants about how *women* are emotional and unstable and suspectible to Jewish propaganda.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

There are two main reasons for the North Korean regime's continued survival:

1. Most of their neighbors are afraid of what might happen if it collapses.

2. The CCP likes having it around, both to act as a junkyard dog and to keep America and/or South Korea from establishing a military presence near the Yalu River.

The latter ties in to speculation I've heard that Beijing may have ordered Kim Jong-un's assassination because they thought he might've been moving towards warmer relations with America, South Korea and Japan.

Then again, North Korea's state media recently said Kim Jong-un appeared in public. But he's known to have body doubles and Norkie media doesn't exactly have a track record for honesty, so I'm taking this with a grain of salt.

So their media might well be covering up the fact that Kim Jong Un is Kim Jong Six Feet Underground.

Wouldn't put it past them. Wonder what the sister's like.

Well, NK media says that Kim Jong-un has made his first public appearance in almost three weeks.

Whether the photos provided are legit or file photos from some prior event remains to be seen, of course.

It doesn't concern you, Sister, that kind of absolutist view of the universe? Right and wrong determined solely by a single all-knowing, all powerful being whose judgment cannot be questioned and in whose name the most horrendous acts can be sanctioned without appeal?

Being required by someone else’s religious beliefs to behave contrary to one’s sexual identity is degrading and disrespectful.

South Korea and the United States seem to be saying the same thing.

Ironbite-I really don't want his sister in charge.

What do we know about the sister, other than the fact she's worryingly hot?

She's competent.  And ambitious.  And as cruel as the rest of the family.

Ironbite-and doesn't have a lot of the health hang-ups Jong-Un has.
