One of the many perks of being considered a separate country, the legal system is something you control, not answer to.

Will Italy just annex the damn thing already so we don't have to deal with this bullshit?

Stuff like this is why I have absolutely no qualms with the Vatican and Holy See being completely dismantled and stripped of all of its wealth, with all its dirty laundry hung out for all to see in the process. It's pretty much like the Church of $¢i€nto£og¥, except with Jesus instead of Xenu, plus 500% moar child molestation swept under the rug.

While I did convert to Catholicism back in 07 or so, I actually only did it for ancestral reasons. I cannot put myself nor belong to an organization that is as criminal, if not more so, than the Mafia.
